Joseph Holbert, 72 of Bainbridge, went to be with his Lord 2:01 pm Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe. He was born May 1, 1943 in Ross County the son of the late William and Ellen Griffith Holbert. On February 19, 1964 he married Kathleen Skaggs who died February 29, 2008.

In October of 2012 he married Janet Smith, who survives. He is also survived by 3 children, Bill Holbert, Paul Holbert and Kathy (Jack) Knisley; 3 stepchildren, LaDawna Williams, Margie and Shelie Blaney; 7 grandchildren, Matt Holbert, Samantha (Blake) Kellough, Tyler and Michelle Holbert, Jacob and Jordan Knisley and Bryson Ann Holbert; great granddaughter, Dani Elizabeth Kellough; 8 step grandchildren; sister, Margaret (Herb) Southers; several special nieces and nephews; and his dog Bear.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Doug Holbert and 14 brothers and sisters.

Joe had been a member of Morgan Fork United Baptist Church since 1979. He was a retired employee of Paxton Township, a skilled knife maker and an avid outdoors-man who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Morgan Fork United Baptist Church with the Elders Arvil Murray and John Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Bainbridge Cemetery. Friends may visit with Joe's Family from 6 to 8 pm Monday at the SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT Funeral Home, Bainbridge.
