Joseph Dean Palmer, 79, of Greenfield, died on Monday evening, December 19, 2016, at Kobacker House, Columbus. He was born on July 23, 1937 in Fayette County, the son of the late George and Opal Pollock Palmer. On March 8, 1963 he married the former Helen Jackson, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Dee Palmer of Greenfield, Grant Allen Palmer of South Salem, and Dondi Palmer of Greenfield, five grandchildren, Charlie White, Hannah Palmer, Colin Jessep, Mason James, Dalton Joseph, four great-grandchildren, Levy, Reagan, Lily, Lexi, and one sister, Laquita (Jim) Kline of Greenfield. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Clifford Wisecup and Mrs. Wayne Kline.
Dean was a 1956 graduate of Buckskin High School. He was a member of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Dean worked as a machinist for Cascade Corp., Thatcher Tubes, Washington C.H., and McKee-Addison, where he retired. After retirement, Dean went to work for Wal-Mart. He was a member of the South Salem Liars Club and a 50 year member of the Greenfield Lodge Free and Accepted Masons.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at South Salem Cemetery with Danny Dodds officiating, and military honors will be accorded by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield. Friends may visit with Dean’s family at the ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a Masonic service to follow.
