Judith L. Smith, 66, of Frankfort, died unexpectedly on Friday, June 10, 2016, at Adena Regional Medical Center following a lingering illness. She was born on December 4, 1949 in Ross County the daughter of the late H. Rudolph and Carlene I. Blazer Tennant. On March 4, 1977 she married Steven C. Smith, who survives.
Also surviving are her son; Mark (Arion) Smith of McDermott, two grandchildren, Dane and Carson Smith, one sister; Donna Sturgill,of Frankfort, three sisters-in-law; Nancy Tennant of Frankfort, Dee (Robin) Hand of Chillicothe, Sharon (Gary) Green of Euclid, OH, one brother-in-law; Stan (Diane) Smith of Pickerington and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marguerite and Norman Smith, her brother C. Ruddy Tennant and her nephew, Arby Sturgill.
Judy was a 1968 graduate of Adena High School and she received her Nursing Degree form Hocking Technical College. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Adena Regional Medical Center and Valley View Care Center. Judy was a certified Alzheimer's Specialist. Judy spent many years as the 4-H Camp Nurse Coordinator and she taught Nursing Aid Classes as well. Judy and Steve were very active together in the Ross County 4-H program where she assisted Steve as superintendent of the Ross County Fair Goat Barn. Judy had also served as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician with the Concord Township Emergency Squad.
Judy was a very active and faithful member of the Frankfort Presbyterian Church. She was an Elder, a vital part of the Adult Choir and was an assistant piano player. She also taught the Youth class in Sunday School and was active in all aspects of the church.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in the Frankfort Presbyterian Church and burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may visit with Judy's family on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Ross County 4-H Endowment fund by making checks payable to Ohio State University and sending them to OSU Extension-Ross County, 475 Western Ave., Ste F, Chillicothe OH 45601 or the Window Restoration Project at the Frankfort Presbyterian Church, PO Box 356, Frankfort, OH 45628.
