Lois Elaine Jones went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 3:45p.m.. She committed her life to the Lord as a part of the Youth Group at Dry Run United Methodist Church near Chillicothe, OH. Lois Elaine was born Feb. 19, 1936, in the Morrison farm house on Albright Mill Road, Ross Co., OH. She graduated from Frankfort High School, Frankfort, OH, in 1954, and attended the Ohio University branch at Chillicothe and received her BSED from OU, Athens, OH, in 1958. She earned her MSED from OSU, Columbus, OH, in 1981. Lois taught 1st grade 1 1/2 years in Barberton, OH, and worked with multiply-handicapped children 1 1/2 years for United Cerebral Palsy Children's Foundation. She taught 20 years in Upper Arlington, OH, public schools as a special education teacher.
Lois' passion in life included serving the Lord, mainly by serving and loving children. Hiking in the woods, especially among spring wild flowers, brought her joy. Traveling and camping across this beautiful country lead to much pleasure. Reading, knitting, and doing crossword puzzles, and having a house full of friends and relatives energized her. Her major strength was loving and encouraging people. She served many years at Orange Friends Church. Lois was a good organizer so planned small group ministries, where she believed people grow closer to the Lord. Lois also served as an Overseer for the church.
Lois Elaine was predeceased by her parents, George L. Morrison and Esther Free Morrison. She was privileged to care for both her parents in her home at the time of their deaths.
Lois is survived by her husband, Robert Blair Jones, of 54 years (married Dec. 27, 1958). Also surviving are three sons and their families: Michael Blair (Becky) Jones of Redmond WA, George Morrison (Stephanie) Jones of Warrenton VA, and Mark Alan (Helen) Jones of Waunakee, WI. Eight grandchildren: Garry, Margo, Bryan, Gwen, Laurel, Andrew, Daniel, and Lily. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Philip and Lillian Morrison of Memphis, TN, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort, from 5 to 8 p.m.. A graveside service will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013 in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort with Rev. William Bowdle officiating. A celebration of life service will be held at 10a.m. on December 21, 2013 in the Orange Friends Church, 3467 East Orange Road, Lewis Center, Ohio 43035. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Orange Friends Church or Campus Crusade for Christ #0113279.
