Loren "Dee" Mays

Loren “Dee” Mays, 91, of Frankfort, died at 7:58pm on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe. He was born on August 13, 1929 in Scioto County, the son of the late John Thomas and Birchie Adkins Mays. On December 7, 1947 he married the former Elsie K. Andronis who preceded him in death on September 7, 2018.

He is survived by three children, Loren Dee (Kathy) Mays of Lebanon, Michael L. (Sandy) Mays of Frankfort, and Debra K. Mays of Grove City, four grandchildren, Stephen, Adam, Julie, and Kyle, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, and six brothers.

Dee was a 1947 graduate of Clay High School. He worked as a commercial bread truck driver for Holsum Bread and later Wonderbread. He was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church. In 1953 he owned the Mays Brother’s Food Market in Muletown, Ohio. He showed Tennessee Walking horses and earned numerous awards. Dee loved to play golf.

A private funeral service will be held for the family and will be broadcast live on Dee’s obituary website at 12pm on Thursday, March 11, 2021 with Pastor Rob Fowler officiating. A public graveside service will be held at approximately 1pm on Thursday in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort.  Those attending will need to wear face masks and observe social distancing.
