Loretta W. Brown

Loretta W. Brown 75 of Waverly passed from this life Saturday, November 25, 2023, at her home. She was born Tuesday, December 2, 1947, in Highland County to the late Gene and Ruth (Horsley) Cole.

She is survived by four sons Joe E. Penwell, Jr., James B. (Pam) Penwell, Michael S. Penwell and Lorne E. Penwell; 17 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren; sisters Helen Dufour, Cheyenne Marble, Scarlett Laister, Brooke Cole and Crystal Cole; brothers Shannon Cole, Clifford (Deb) Cole and Jr. Clark; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including her close friend Karen Blackwell of PA.

In addition to her parents Loretta was preceded in death by her husband Karl “Mac” Brown; brother Brett Cole; sisters Sabrina Cole, Tracy Blevins and granddaughter CaraJo “CJ” Alexander.

Loretta loved to cook, and she enjoyed working in her garden which always provided a lot of food for canning. She also loved her house plants but reading most of all.

Visitation will be held from 11 am to 1 pm Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Bainbridge, followed by a brief service.
