Lowell P. "Speed" Pollock 88 of South Salem died 8:05 pm Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe. He was born July 23, 1923 in Ross County the son of the late Lowell and Georgia Ann Mick Pollock. On May 24, 1950 he married Doris M. Atwood Pollock, who survives.
Speed is also survived by his three sons, Lowell (Kim) Pollock of Frankfort, Kelly Pollock of South Salem and Ronny (Missy) Pollock of Waverly; two grandchildren, Allister and Rebecca Pollock; sister, Joy Grimes of Chillicothe and several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Audrey Miller and special nephews, Donald and Roger Pollock, Marvin Wisecup and Mike Dougherty, who came to visit and help out when help was needed.
He was preceded in death by seven sisters, Evelyn Johnson, Marguerite Storts, Opal Palmer, Ruth Forsythe, Lucille Stewart, Dorothy Wisecup and Norma Jean Pollock and five brothers, Ray, James, Dale, Clarence and Emmitt Pollock.
Speed was an Army Air Corp veteran of WWII serving in the southwest Pacific as an aircraft mechanic. He was a member of the Local 731, the American Legion and The First Capital Rabbit Hunters Club. He was also a founding member of the Twin Township Fire Dept and he retired from Mead after 35 yrs of service. Speed loved to ride his motorcycle, hunting and fishing in his free time.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT Funeral Home, Bainbridge, with Rev. Willard Kellough and Mike Dougherty officiating. Burial will follow in the Twin Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 pm Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
