Marcella “Marcie” Bumen, 89, of Frankfort, died at 7:32 p.m. on Monday, August 6, 2018 at Court House Manor, Washington C.H. She was born on August 25, 1928, in Wellston, OH, the daughter of the late Everett and Rachel Hutton Grady. On May 7, 1949 she married her husband of 69 years, Robert Bumen, who survives.
Also surviving are their children, Beth Bumen Moore of Frankfort, Robert Lee (Jo) Bumen of Washington C.H., two granddaughters; Traci Ward Waldron and Tiffany Ward Hoppes, four great grandchildren; Taylie and Trent Waldron Adelyn and Luke Hoppes, a special cousin; Bertie Linscott of The Plains, OH, one sister-in-law; Marliyn Bumen of Chillicothe, four brothers-in-law; Don, Jack, Jim (Jane), Bill (Linda) Bumen all of Chillicothe. She was preceded in death by two brothers; Lewis and Jim Peoples and one brother-in-law; Carl Bumen.
Marcie was a graduate of Chillicothe High School. For several years, Marcie was the owner operator of Marcie’s Beauty Shop in Frankfort. She was a very active member of the Frankfort United Methodist Church. She taught the Mary Martha Sunday School Class for sixteen years, sang in the choir and took an active part in Vacation Bible School every year. Marcie was a member and Past President of the Frankfort American Legion Auxiliary, was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star and served several years on the Frankfort Village Council.
Marcie joined with Joe Lane and for many years gathered the necessary funds to purchase livestock at the Ross County Junior Fair Sales supporting many Frankfort kids for many years. She dedicated herself to this great project and many kids benefited from her many hours of work each year
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Frankfort United Methodist Church. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. officiated by Pastor Neil Foster. The ladies of the church will serve a meal following the service. Following the meal, burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Chillicothe. The EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort is serving the family.
