Martha Helen Turner

Martha Helen Turner 85, of Springfield formerly of Chillicothe went home to be with the Lord 8:10 pm Friday, March 14, 2014 from her residence. She was born January 4, 1929 in Pike County the daughter of the late William and Cynthia Blackburn Havens. On January 15, 1949 she married Warden "Jack" Turner, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Clarence (Margie) Turner and Jerry (Diane) Turner of Springfield and John (Sue) Turner of Columbus; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Ann Newman of Springfield; several nieces, nephews and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Rosemary Turner; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Walter Legg; brother-in-law, Floyd Newman and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Oakley and Gaynell Turner.

Martha was a high school graduate of Western Local Schools and was very dedicated to her church, New Hope Free Will Baptist Church of Slate Mills, where she was a member and assistant Sunday School Secretary. She enjoyed gardening and loved to cook for her family.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT Funeral Home of Bainbridge with Rev. Wendell Combs officiating. Burial will follow in the East Cemetery, Latham. Friends may call from 5-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
