Mary Bell Downing

Mary Bell Downing, 85, of Clarksburg, died at 2:56 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Westmoreland Place, Chillicothe. She was born on October 30, 1928 in Springfield OH, the daughter of the late Mitchell and Frances Wilburn Daugherty. On March 17, 1945 she married Gene Downing, who preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1985.

Surviving are her children, David (Sareena) Downing of Chillicothe, Telisa (Richard) Schoonover of Pleasant Valley, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great--grandchildren, very special friend Ashley Thacker, sister Stella (Bert) Gordon of Portsmouth, brothers, Paul (Mildred) Daugherty of Greenfield, Raymond Daugherty of Bloomingburg, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sons, Austin, Lafe and Jerry Downing, one daughter, Judith Smith, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, sisters, Wilda Daugherty and Barb Fite, and one brother, Richard Daugherty.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, with Pastor Woody Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown's Chapel Cemetery. Friends can visit with the Downing family at the funeral home on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ebright Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses.
