Mary M. McCoppin, 95, of Washington Court House, died Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 3:15 a.m. at St. Catherines Care Center in Washington Court House. She was born on November 9, 1920 in Storm Lake, IA, the daughter of the late John H. and Sarah Grace Coyle McKenna. On January 22, 1944 she married Forrest McCoppin who preceded her in death on October 3, 2007.
Surviving are four children; Phyllis (Charles) Coffee of Oak Island, NC, Beverly (Sam) Bornholdt of Dublin, Ohio, Dennis (JoAnne) McCoppin and David (Debra) McCoppin all of Washington Court House, nine grandchildren; Leanne, Michael, John and Steven McCoppin, Chris (Sherrie) Coffey and daughter McKenzie, Chad (Susan) Coffee and son and daughter Jack and Shannon, Amy Coffee, Anne Icaboni and daughters and son Alexis, Samantha and Christian, and one brother; Nate McKenna of Storm Lake, Iowa. She was preceded in death by one daughter; Elizabeth McCoppin, four brothers; Vincent, Linus, Frank and Thomas McKenna and one sister and her husband Margaret and Abe Demers, one sister in law; Deloris McKenna.
She was a graduate of the Providence Consolidated School in Sulphur Springs, IA. She was a graduate of the St. Anthony School of Nursing where she received her Registered Nurse degree. She served during World War II in the Army Nurse Corps. where she obtained the rank of Second Lieutenant. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Court House Manor of Washington Court House where she retired in 1983. She was a member of the St. Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church of Washington Court House and was an avid reader of western stories.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church in Washington Court House. Burial will follow in the St. Colman Catholic Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Fayette County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may visit with Mary's family on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield.
