Mildred Geneva Compher

Chillicothe: Mildred Geneva (Shoemaker) Compher, of Chillicothe passed gently from this life, to life everlasting on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 11:45 pm. She had been cared for at home by her loving family during a three month illness.

She was a charter member of the Bourneville Christian Union Church, where she served as pianist and Sunday School teacher through the years. She was always involved with the church, willing to use her considerable talents when and wherever they were needed.

She was born into a large, loving family on May 30, 1924, in Ross County, Ohio, the daughter of Royal and Sara (Mick) Shoemaker.

She was married to Clayton H. Compher on June 6, 1939. They spent most of their lives in Ross County except for a short period of time in Tyler, Texas where Clayton was stationed in the service of our country in World War II. He preceded her in death on October 14, 2001.

She is survived by five children; Terressa (David) Bobb of Bainbridge, Stephen (Paula) Compher of Oxford, PA, Matilda (Warren) Burns of Avon, IN, Robert (Linda) Compher of Bourneville and John Wayne (Pamela) Compher of Lynchburg, VA; 14 grandchildren, Kim (Shasteen) Carter, Bryan (Marla) Bobb, Clay (Zoe) Shasteen, Doug (Joy) Compher, Mark (Lisa) Compher, Andrea (Roger) Shuman, Tiffini (Tom) Hanagan, David (Rebecca) Burns, Jonathon (Leah) Burns, Rob (Kim) Compher, Matt (Kelly) Compher, Eric (Yoon) Compher, Mindy (Steve) LeBeau and Shawna (Kyle) Kramer; 31 great grandchildren, Eddie, Josh, Jaresa, Marina, Mariah, Cameron, Noelle, Aliza, Emma, Addy, Jamie, William, Baylee, Izabella, Riley, Isaac, Eva, Lukas, Yakob, Joshua, Jacob, Ryan, Elizabeth, Judah, Miriam, Norah, Sherman, Seth, Eli, Cooper and Mackenzie.

She is also survived by a beloved sister and brother, Alice (Shoemaker) Litter and Ralph Shoemaker, both of Chillicothe, along with many nieces and nephews.

Mildred was a wonderful, loving, kind, and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was loved by her family and she supported them in all aspects of their lives. She will be greatly missed by all.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Bourneville CU Church. Funeral services will be 1 pm Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the church with the Reverends Dave Maughmer, Warren Burns and Darrel Allmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Twin Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Bourneville CU Church Youth Center: PO Box 96 Bourneville, OH 45617.
