Mildred Irene McDowell

Mildred I. McDowell, 100, of Chillicothe, died at 8a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013 in the Valley View Alzheimer's Care Center, Frankfort. She was born on September 20, 1912 in Bourneville, the daughter of the late Adam and Mary Absten Schiller. In June of 1948, she married Arthur McDowell, who preceded her in death in 1999.

She is survived by one granddaughter, Cindi Alexander of Frankfort; one great granddaughter, Cortney Williams of Frankfort; and two great great grandchildren, Hunter and Addison Williams of Frankfort. She was preceded in death by her son, Don Stumbo Sr., grandson, Don Stumbo Jr., sister, Viola "Sis" Poole; and two brothers, Ed and Bernard Schiller.

Mildred was a graduate of Twin Township High School. She worked as a supervisor for US Shoe Factory in Chillicothe, until World War II, when she went to work at the former powder plant as a member of the "Powder Gang." Mildred was a 60 year member of the Walnut Street United Methodist Church, Chillicothe and a member of the Chillicothe Garden Club. She also participated in bowling leagues in Chillicothe in the 1960's and 1970's, where she was an amazing bowler.

The family cannot thank Valley View Care Center enough, for the love and care that was given to Mildred and the family.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013 in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Bob Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery, Bourneville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12noon until the time of service. The family kindly declines flowers and asks that memorial contributions be made in Mildred's name to the Fun Committee at Valley View Care Center, 3363 Ragged Ridge Road, Frankfort OH 45628
