Patrick J. McConahay, 65, of Chillicothe died unexpectedly Friday, May 9, 2014 at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe. He was born on December 15, 1948 in Ross County the son of the late James and Martha Branham. Pat was raised by his grandparents, the late George and Emma McConahay. On May 23, 1966 he married the former Lorinda "Linda" Dunklem, his loving and caring wife and friend, and she survives.

Also surviving are two sons; Larry (Patricia) McConahay, Sr. of Washington C.H., Les (Melissa) McConahay of Wilmington, seven grandchildren; Zachary (Dawn) Bowling, Larry Patrick McConahay, Jr., Britanny (Allen) Rutter, Madison Kate and Gage Allen McConahay, Rebecca and Alyssa Daniels, five great grandchildren; William, Kalie, Harley, Zach, Jr., and Natalie, one sister; Vickie Rhoads of Pataskala, a special sister; Peggy Secrest of Frankfort, three brothers; Bratton and Terry Branham of Chillicothe and Mark Branham of Pataskala, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous friends and acquaintances throughout Ohio. Pat had special people in his life including one who was like a brother to him; Tom (Carolyn) McClaskey of Chillicothe, special friends; Taylor "Bob", Matt "Sweet Patty", Porter, Levi, Briar, Cordell "Farva", Austin, Cody and Cameron, two special girls; Paige and Whitney. He is preceded in death by his mother, Martha Branham, one brother; David Branham, one aunt, Florence Detty, two nephews, Kevin Kunz and Chad Brown, and his mother-in-law, Bernice Dunkle.

Pat was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical center where he had worked as a nursing assistant and was in grounds maintenance. He attended the Maple Grove Christian Union Church. He was a member of the AmVets in Chillicothe. He loved the time he spent in pulling competitions with his mini tractors and was a member of the Buckeye Pullers Association. His vacation was always planned for the Clinton County Fair in Wilmington so he could support his grandkids as they showed their animals at the fair.

He served as Scout Master for Troop 8 in Chillicothe for many years as well as Scout Master for Troop 25 in Frankfort. Pat was also a coach for Little League baseball and also the Scioto Valley Youth League Baseball. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved his time outside where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

In keeping with Patrick's wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort is serving the family.

My father was one, if not the greatest man that ever lived. He inspired and influenced someone that came into contact with him in their lifetime in so many ways. He stood for what he believed in and taught us and others to do the same. He was a dad and grandfather to people who weren't even his own. He is gone physically but will always be in our hearts, minds and thoughts and will never be forgotten.

This is not good-bye Dad, but see you later.
