Pearl Opal (Dyke) Spangler, 86, of Clarksburg, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Court House Manor in Washington C.H., with her loving family by her side. She was born on June 10, 1927 in Pike County, the daughter of the late Holace and Orpha Havens Dyke, who preceded her in death in 1969. On September 30, 1944 she married Eugene Spangler who preceded her in death in 1996.
Surviving are her son Ronnie and daughter-in-law Beverly Spangler of New Holland, granddaughter Tammy (Troy) Williamson, two grandsons Brent Spangler and Mark (Angie) Spangler, step-grandchildren Mike Sheppeard and Sandy Sheppeard, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, sister Dale Colburn, several nieces and nephews, special friends Wilma Thomas and Trina Spangler and her pet fish Tab. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son and daughter in law Randy and Barbara Spangler in 2000, her five brothers, Leo, Walter, Floyd, Paul and Gale Dyke, two sisters, Geraldine Houser and Ruby Colburn.
Mrs. Spangler was a long-time resident of Clarksburg, Ohio and a member of the Clarksburg Christian Church. She had worked as a waitress at the White Cottage Restaurant in New Holland, at Walnut Manor Nursing Home in Clarksburg and retired from Home Helpers in 2005. Pearl dearly loved her children and grandchildren and very much enjoyed spending time with them.
The family of Mrs. Spangler would like to thank Frontier Healthcare, Heartland Hospice and Court House Manor Nursing Home for the excellent care she received.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014 in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Dale Gilbert and Tim Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may visit with the Spangler family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m..
