Philip Morrow Hurtt, 74, of Clarksburg, died at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe. He was born on Friday, June 13, 1947, in Columbus, the son of the late Harold M. and Ellen Jane Dunlap Hurtt. On June 27, 1992, he married the former Rolanda Weber, who survives.
In addition to his wife of 29 years, Phil is survived by three children, Michelle Hurtt of Hilliard, Philip Scott (Bobbie) Hurtt of Frankfort, Samantha (Jason) Malone of Clarksburg, five grandchildren, Nathaniel Powell, Ethan Hurtt, Eric Hurtt, Mason Malone, Watson Malone, one sister, Betsy (Larry) Moore of Chillicothe, three brothers, Marion (Robin) Hurtt of Clarksburg, Richard (Cynthia) Hurtt of Chillicothe, and James (Patty) Hurtt of Clarksburg.
Philip was a 1965 graduate of Clarksburg High School. He was a member of the Brown’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Frankfort Lion’s Club, and sexton of the Brown’s Chapel Cemetery, Clarksburg. He was a member of the Ross County Agricultural Society, served as Swine Superintendent at the Ross County Fair, and was a 4-H Advisor of the Clarksburg Jolly Feeders for 43 years. Phil additionally was a member of the Adena School Board, a founding member of the Deerfield Township Zoning Board, and a bus driver for Adena Local Schools.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021, in the Brown’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Vera Welker officiating. Burial will follow in Brown’s Chapel Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to call on Phil’s family on Wednesday evening, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Ross County 4-H Endowment, OSU Extension Office, 475 Western Ave., Suite F, Chillicothe OH 45601.
