Richard Lewis Cartwright, 77, formerly of East Moline IL, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014, at the Dayton Hospice House, Dayton. He was born on March 24, 1937, in Buckskin Township, Ross County, OH, the son of the late Lewis and Arabelle Herman Cartwright. His wife, Nancy, of Silvis IL, survives.
Also surviving are his children, Kathy (Rod) Miller of Amanda OH, Roberta Leach of Beavercreek OH, Pamila Jo Florea of Seoul, South Korea, and Sandy (Mike) Dosch of Moline IL, as well as eleven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
For many years, Richard owned and operated Cartwright Auction Service. He also enjoyed working with wood, making cabinets and building storage barns. Richard was a Past President of Silvis Optimist Club, a member of Silvis F.O.E. 1869, Moline High Twelve Club. He was a Past Master of East Moline Lodge 969 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, and a current member of Silvis Lodge 898 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, a life-member of Scottish Rite Consistory - Valley of Moline and was a Past Patron of Moline Chapter 258, Order of Eastern Star.
A Masonic service will be held at 11am, Friday, December 26, 2014 in the ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield with a funeral service to follow, officiated by Danny Dodds. Burial will follow in South Salem Cemetery, South Salem OH. Friends may visit with the Cartwright family on Friday from 10am until the time of the service.
