Richard L. Fagan

Richard L. Fagan, 83, of Greenfield, died at 4:12 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Court House Manor in Washington Court House. He was born on April 9, 1933 in Greenfield, the son of the late James H. and Florence L. Wilson Fagan. On October 19, 1951 he married the former Melba J. Fogle who preceded him in death on June 11, 1997. Richard married the former Sharon LeVan on April 13, 2004 and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters; Marjorie (Lawrence) Greene of Leesburg, Jean Swartsell of Greenfield, two sons; James Robert Fagan of Cape Coral, Fl and Richard Michael (Joda) Fagan of Washington Court House, three stepdaughters;  Patricia Caplinger of Hillsboro, Lori Valley of Mount Healthy, and Melissa Surdenik of Myrtle Beach, North Carolina, three stepsons; Darrell, Donnie Jr., Daniel Ballein all of Hillsboro, ten grandchildren; Stacy and Carl Pavey, Kelly Pavey, Angela Downing, Barbara and Erica Shelton, Lori Swartsell, Summer Fagan, Amberly Hudson, Brooklyn Nicole Fagan, nineteen great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, one sister; Ann (Paul) Miller of Greenfield and two nieces. He is preceded in death by one son; Stephen Foster Fagan.

Richard was a 1951 graduate of the Edward Lee McClain High School. He retired as a type setter for the Dayton Daily News. He was a lifetime member of Greenfield Eagles Aerie #1325 where he was secretary for many years and he also held several state offices in the Ohio Eagles.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield with Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery. Friends may visit with Richard’s family on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. An Eagles service will held at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
