Richard D. Sims, 78, of Chillicothe, died on Tuesday morning, January 11, 2011 at Adena Regional Medical Center, while surrounded by his family. He was born on January 7, 1933 in Lattaville, the son of the late Ward and Esta Robinson Sims. On June 1, 1963 he married the former Frances A. Tinker, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Teresa (Dwayne) Steinbrook of Chillicothe, Brian (Tammie) Sims of Frankfort, Jeffrey (Tammy) Sims of Chillicothe, grandchildren; Allyn, Tiffany and Joshua Steele, Travis Sims, Tori, Kasie and BJ Sims, Kirsten and Jacob Sims, great-grandchildren; McKenzie and Caden Steele, Taylor Ward and Meloney Sims, sister; Beverly (Junior) Glandon of Frankfort, brother; Robert (Betty) Sims of Frankfort.
Richard was a graduate of Frankfort High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1967 Richard began maintenance work at Chillicothe Hospital and went on to retire from Adena Regional Medical Center in 1995. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 757, Chillicothe.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 11 am in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, FRANKFORT, with Reverend Mark Clendaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Chillicothe, where military honors will be accorded by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm.
