Richard Stewart, Jr., 89, of Greenfield died at 9:43 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe. He was born April 16, 1925 in Paris, KY, the son of the late Richard, Sr., and Ada B. Gravitt Stewart. On January 3, 1970, he married the former Dorothy M. Ellis who preceded him in death on November 27, 1995.
He is survived by two daughters; Janet (John) Fearnow of Ocala, FL and Peggy Stewart of Harlingen, TX, thirteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; a special friend; Rhoda Fugate of Wilmington. He is preceded in death by one stepson; David Leach, two brothers and one sister.
Richard was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He retired as a shoe cutter at the US Shoe Factory in Greenfield. Following his retirement, Richard enjoyed the time he spent cleaning the Greenfield office of Leesburg Federal Savings and Loan. Richard was a member of the Greenfield Church of Christ.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 in the ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield with Danny Dodds and Keith Short officiating. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield. Friends may visit with the Stewart family on Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
