Ricky J. Deckard, 70, of Frankfort, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at his home. He was born on, Sunday, May 20, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio the son of the late Benny and Twila George Deckard. On July 18, 1970, he married the former Peggy May, and she survives.
Also surviving are his two sons, Ricky J. (Stacy) Deckard II, of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and Paul E. (Andrea) Deckard of Monroe, Ohio, six grandchildren, Mariah, Thryceton, Dylan, Brandon, Caleb, Andon, one brother, Rocky (Anita) Deckard of Arizona, one step-sister, Lisa Didelotte, one step-brother, Craig Lemaster, both of Vinton, Ohio, a special aunt, Sharon Maldonado, and several nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, Cathy, and two brothers, Randy, and Ronnie.
Ricky was a true American patriot, having served his country in the United States Army. He served his country honorably in Vietnam. He attended the Universities of Maryland and Phoenix and earned his doctorate in International Business. Ricky was an ordained minister in the Church of Christ in Christian Union, and he pastored at many churches, including; Pleasantville Church of Christ in Christian Union, Leesville Louisiana Church of the Nazarene, Fruithill Church of Christ in Christian Union, and Bonds Chapel Church of Christ in Christian Union. Ricky served as financial aid director and also taught at the Ohio Christian University, Circleville. He was formerly a member of Fruit Hill Church of Christ in Christian Union and currently a member of High Street Church of Christ in Christian Union, Chillicothe
Funeral services for Ricky will be held at 1 pm, Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Rev. Bruce Viar officiating. Friends and family can visit with Ricky’s family on Thursday, from 11am until the time of the service.
