Robert W. Carter, 90, of Circleville died at 9:20a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Logan Elm Healthcare, Circleville. He was born on March 1, 1923 in Leesburg, the son of the late Charles H. and Helen Brown Carter. His wives, the former Bessie I. Marcum and Violet Lee preceded him in death. His wife, Linda Carter survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Joan (David) Mossbarger of Frankfort, one son Bruce (Adele) Carter of Springfield, six step-daughters Marge Poyner, Judy Brown, Tammy Robertson, Ellen Dick, Elizabeth Bouchoc, Mindi Gliatti, eighteen grandchildren Jeffrey and Steven Mossbarger, Kelly Dietzel, Scott Carter, Sara Holbrook, Kyle Carter, Adele Torigoe, Victor Poyner, Mathew Robertson, Angela Bolte, Andrea Timson, Sydney Dick, Emily, Nathan, Victoria and Elias Bouchoc, Isabella and Salvatore Gliatti, numerous great-grandchildren, one sister, Ruth Glandon of Frankfort, and three brothers, Deane (Edna) Carter, Joe Carter, and Norman "Doc" (Barbara) Carter, all of Frankfort. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara "Bobby" Carter, one sister Jane Smith, and two brother, Charles and John Carter
Bob was a 1941 graduate of Frankfort High School, and served as a rifleman in the United States Army during World War II. He was present at the Bridge at Remagen, and his company served as reinforcement during the Battle of the Bulge. Bob worked as a machine operator at Mead Paper Mill, Chillicothe. He was a member of the First Wesleyan Church, Chillicothe and the Joseph Ellsworth White, Post 483 Frankfort American Legion.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2014 in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, FRANKFORT, with Mike and Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort with military honors accorded by the Frankfort American Legion Post 483. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, from 3 to 6p.m..
