Robert A. Shoemaker

Robert A. "Shoe" Shoemaker 60, of Bainbridge passed from this life 2:45 am Sunday, July 12, 2015 at his home. He was born December 13, 1954 in Bainbridge the son of the late Seth and Pauline Penwell Shoemaker. On March 20, 2000 he married Julia A. Thompson, who survives.

He is also survived by a son Benjamin Countryman of Bainbridge; sisters, Marilyn (Robert) Zickefoose of Hillsboro, Rachael (Jacob) Bridenbaugh of Bourneville and Peggy (William Dale) Hunt of Hillsboro; brother, Philip Shoemaker of Greenfield and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Shoemaker and nephews, Dale Zickefoose and Joshua Gire.

Bob was a retired carpenter and member of the Local 437. He was an avid outdoorsman and deer hunter; loved to hunt mushrooms, work in his garden, play horseshoes, fishing and Nascar.

Every year Bob and several of his closet hunting friends would go to Sammy's Hunting Lodge in West Virginia and following cremation he will return to Sammy's Lodge and the woods he loved so much.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jerry Kunz and his staff, the National Church Residences Hospice and the James Cancer Center for all the care and support they gave.

Funeral services will be held 7 pm Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT Funeral Home of Bainbridge with Rev. Dane Knapp officiating. Bob's family will receive friends from 5 pm until the time of the service on Wednesday.
