Roger Lyle VanGundy 64 of Bainbridge went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 12, 2015 after battling cancer. He was born October 12, 1951 in Ross County to the late Willis George and Eudora (Cooper) VanGundy. On February 28, 1987 he married Jacqueline Ann Hamilton, who survives.
He is also survived by children, Anna (Kendall) Evans of Bainbridge, Barbara (Carl) Brooks of Needles California and William (Katie) Hart of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Wendall, Zeb and Stephanie Evans and Ezra, Alexis and Israel Brooks; sisters, Carolyn Rumfield and Ann Eiring of Bainbridge and brothers, John and Rodney VanGundy of Bainbridge and many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Opal Maughmer, Leila Henderson and Mary Jarrells and brothers, Willis Earl and George "Bud" VanGundy.
Roger loved spending time with his family, hunting mushrooms and ginseng. He also enjoyed flea marketing and collecting depression glass. He graduated from Paint Valley High School in 1969 and served in the US Army from 1970 - 72 with an honorable discharge. While serving in the Army he was proud to have served on the color guard at Richard Nixon's inauguration. Roger also worked for over 20 years for his good friend John Wetzel, in construction running heavy equipment.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, October 16, 2015 at Storms Chapel with Pastor Sammie Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Twin Township Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Ross County Honor Guard. Friends may visit with Roger's family on Thursday from 4-7 pm at Storms Chapel.
