Ronald E. Free, 64, of Frankfort, died at 5:56 a.m. Sunday, April 1, 2012 in James Cancer Center, Columbus. He was born at Frankfort, Ohio on November 25, 1947, the son of the late Isaac M. and Edna B. Flesher Free. On July 8, 1967 he married his high school sweetheart, the former Mary J. Stewart who survives.
He is also survived by one daughter; Michelle (Greg) Bowdle of Frankfort, one son; Ronald E. (Jamie) Free, II of Frankfort, five grandchildren; Lacey, Griffen and Logan Bowdle, Kaitlin and Gunnar Free, two sisters; Norma Shanton of Chillicothe, Marjorie Hollis of Canal Winchester, two brothers; Russell Free of Washington, IN, and Franklin Free of Frankfort. He was preceded in death by four sisters; Linda, Virginia, Barbara Free and Hilda Kinzer, two brothers; infant Free and Harold "Pete" Free.
Ron was a 1967 graduate of Adena High School. He worked for the B&O Railroad for seventeen years and he retired from Glatfelter Paper as a supervisor in 2011 where he had worked for 24 years. He was a member of the Frankfort Masonic Lodge #309 - Free and Accepted Masons. He attended the Lattaville United Methodist Church. Ron was a proud grandfather and loved to watch his grandkids take part in all their activities.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Dr. Phillip Malone and Rev. James McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Masonic services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to Adena Baseball c/o Adena Schools 3367 Co Rd 550, Frankfort, OH 45628.
