Ruby Evelyn Merrick

Ruby E. Merrick, 94, of Clarksburg, died at 10:33 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe. She was born on February 26, 1920 in Wayne County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Thomas and Minnie Jarrels Harmon. On July 6, 1937 she married Doffie "D.C." Merrick and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2001.

She is survived by her daughter; Ruth E. Merrick of Clarksburg, sisters-in-law; Frances Merrick of New Jersey, Gypsy Harmon of Huntington, WV, Louise Merrick of Boytnon, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Ruby was a member of the Clarksburg United Methodist Church, where she was also a member of the Women's Club, helped with church dinners, and baked cookies for VBS. She also found joy in embroidering pillow cases for her family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Clarksburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry Caddell officiating. Burial will follow in Brown's Chapel Cemetery, Clarksburg. Ruby's family will receive friends on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort is serving the family.
