Russell Ernie Penwell

Russell Ernie Penwell, 101 of Peebles died 9:20 am Thursday, November 1, 2012. He was born August 19, 1911 in Pike County the son of the late Enos and Bertha Knisley Penwell. In 1945 he married Clara Belle Short who died in 1995.

Russ is survived by his daughters, Zorritta (Arnett) Knisley, Peggy (Roger) Tong and Melody (Joe Bill) Cross all of Fairview; sons, Roy Arthur Penwell of Latham, Earl Randoff (Loretta) Penwell of Bainbridge, Ora Eugene (Geraldine) Penwell, Ricky Lee (Penny) Penwell and David Ernie (Marsa) Penwell all of Fairview and Tony (Tammy) Penwell of Peebles; 25 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; sisters, Rindabelle (Carl) Grooms of Good Hope and Betty Lowman of Peebles; a brother, Charles Henry (Kathy) Penwell of Peebles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents three children, three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be 1 pm Monday, November 5, 2012 at the SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT Funeral Home of Bainbridge with Rev. Jeff Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Lapperrell Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 am until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
