Ruth E. Shumaker, 78, of Greenfield, died on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 1:54 p.m. in Hearth and Care Rehabilitation Center in Greenfield. She was born on December 13, 1936 in Greenfield the daughter of the late James Emerson and Nancy Marie Barker Curry. On April 14, 1955 she married Robert E. "Bob" Shumaker who preceded her in death on February 23, 2012.
She is survived by two children; Susan Wilkey of Frankfort and Betty (Dave) Howland of Greenfield, seven grandchildren; Dallas Aaron (Ciara) White, Randy Shumaker, April Compher, Jessica (Jeff) Anderson, Audrey Davis, Christin (Shawn ) Hodge, Jason (Jenny) Howland, Brandon and Adrian Smith, seventeen great grandchildren, one sister in law; Peggy Curry of Leesburg and Ruth's beloved pet "Baby". She was preceded in death by one son; Larry Shumaker, one brother; James Curry and one son-in-law; John C. Wilkey.
Ruth was a 1954 graduate of the Edward Lee McClain High School. She retired from Big Bear Store in Washington Court House where she worked as a cashier. She was a member of the Chapel of Hope Church in Greenfield.
Funeral service will be held Monday, November 30, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield with Kay Austin officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery. Friends may visit with Ruth's family from noon until the time of service at the funeral home.
