Shirley Mae Kniceley, 84, of Cynthiana, Ohio passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022, at St Catherine’s Manor in Washington Court House. Shirley was also preceded in death by a daughter Renee Marie, two brothers Clarence Kniceley and Gene Kniceley, three sisters Genevieve Lance, Rita Kniceleyand Catherine Rudd as well as special friend Cathy Hester and sister-in-law Thelma Kniceley.
Shirley was a beloved Mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family which includes children Linda (Gary) Cottrill of Bainbridge, Curtis (Linda) Logan of Peebles, Marty (Penny) Logan of Bainbridge, Peggy (William Miller) Logan of Cynthiana, Ricky (Jenni) Logan of Milford; grandchildren Christopher (Jarrett) Logan, Stephanie (KC) Collingsworth, Chasity (Michael) Setty, Bobbi Thompson, Lacey (fiancé Zach Wright) Logan, Mariah (Chris) Moore, MacKenzi (Phillip) Tackett, Madison (fiancé Michael Muniz) Logan, Matthew Cottrill, Makayla Livingston, Nikeeta Livingston; great-grandchildren Michael Setty, Sage Collingsworth, Emma Brill, Logan Beechler, Alexa Watson, Nevaeh Davis, LawlynnTackett, Cora Moore, Olivia Davis, Lennon Tackett, Adalynn Wright, Kamaiyah Chaney.
Shirley was an honest strong-willed woman who raised five children on her own. Family was everything to Shirley and she was the ultimate caretaker for anyone in need. If you stepped foot into her home, expect to be fed, hungry or not. This included the many stray animals she tended to, especially cats. No one was going hungry under her watch. Shirley alsopossessed the unique ability to openly share her feelings with brutal honesty, and yet give love in the same breath. You never had to wonder what Shirley was thinking, she shared her views and opinions in a way that would have made any sailor blush.
Shirley was the matriarch of her family who deeply respected her stern hand and tough love. Although Shirley ultimately lost her battle to dementia, she never let it take her fierceness or her ability to give love. She may not have been able to remember your name during your visit, but she always felt comfortable enough to give her advice on your outfit or remind you to go back on your diet before giving you the biggest hug and tell you how much she loved you. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Monday, November 28, 2022 at the Smith-Moore-Ebright Funeral Home, Bainbridge with Pastor Ralph Letsche officiating. Following the service Shirley will be laid to rest in the Cynthiana Cemetery. Friends may visit with Shirley's family from Noon until the time of service on Monday.
