Wayne A. Downing

Wayne A. Downing, 83, of Washington C.H. died at 4:02 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2023 at CareCore at Westmoreland, Chillicothe. He was born in Pickaway County on Tuesday, June 13, 1939, the son of the late Joseph Wesley and Clara Belle Dykes Downing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Hicks Downing, his son, John (Tracy) Downing all of Washington C.H., his step son, who he helped raise, Jim Schumacher of Jackson, one step daughter, Chris (Gary) Knisley of Bainbridge, three grandchildren; Jacob Downing, A.J. Knisley and Pierce Knisley and one brother, Gary Massie of Kentucky. Wayne was preceded in death by his two best friends, Virgil Stuckey and Jesse "Smitty" Smedley.

Wayne was a US Army veteran. He was retired from the Budd Wheel in Frankfort. Wayne spent a lot of time fishing, shooting guns and tinkering around the house.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Chaplain Aaron Hines officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown's Chapel Cemetery, Clarksburg. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
