Wendell E. Pettiford, Sr., 78, of Frankfort, died at his home, surrounded by his family, at 8:48 a.m., Sunday, February 12, 2023. He was born on, Friday, November 24, 1944, in Ross County, the son of the late Theodore and Irene Banks Pettiford. He married his wife of 57 years, the former Mary Ann Bryant on November 10, 1965, and she survives.
Also surviving are his four children, Danielle (Lynn) Pettiford of Frankfort, Tonya Pettiford of Columbus, Scooter (Linda) Pettiford of Washington C.H., Daniel Pettiford of Frankfort, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one brother, William (Betty) Pettiford of Frankfort, two brothers-in-law, Donald Valentine, Sr. of Frankfort, Robert Bryant, Jr.. He was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Kingston Pettiford, and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Valentine and Sandy Bryant.
Wendell attended Frankfort Schools. He served his country honorable in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He worked at Kenworth Truck Manufacturing for thirty years and volunteered as an EMT for twenty years with Concord Township, Deerfield Township, and Pickaway Plains Ambulance. Wendell was known around the area for his amazing skills at playing piano and singing. He was a member at the Second Baptist Church, Roxabel where he served as Deacon.
A funeral service for Wendell will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2023, in the Second Baptist Church, Roxabel, with Pastor Mark Gray officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends and family can visit with Wendell's family on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort.
