William Edward Bowles, 71 of Bainbridge died 4:45 pm Monday, November 22, 2010 at Clinton Memorial Hospital, Wilmington. He was born April 11, 1939 in Adams County the son of the late Gland Edward and Doris Chloe Brown Bowles.
On May 14, 1966 he married the former Sally Ann Yoakem, who survives. Also surviving are 3 children and their spouses, William Edward and Joann Bowles, Jr. of Bainbridge, Anna Marie and Ronald Smith of Hillsboro and Christopher N. and Tammy Bowles of Greenfield; 7 grandchildren, Julie Beth, Justin Edward, and Ronald J. Smith Jr. and Megan, Sydney, Taylor and Dalton Bowles; a great grandson, Austyn Garrett Smith; 7 sisters, Waneta Pooler, Sarah White, Shirley Leasure, Patricia Free, Bev Howard, Sue Lindsey and Carol Bivens; 3 brothers, Donald, Robert and Michael Bowles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Glenn Thomas Bowles.
William was an Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 14 of Bainbridge and a member of the Bainbridge Lodge 196 of the Free and Accepted Masons.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the Rainsboro Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Rhoads Cemetery with a military graveside service accorded by the Highland County Honor Guard. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Friday at the Church. There will be a Masonic service held at 7:30 pm.
