William David Gray

William David Gray, 88, of Bainbridge, died on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Edgewood Manor in Greenfield, Ohio. He was born to John Frederick and Bessie Mae Strain Gray on December 1, 1922 in Ross County, Ohio, the youngest of six children.

David was a lifelong resident of Ross County, farming a number of places with his brother Dean, the most recent on Cliff Run Road outside of Bainbridge. He and Dean played and sang in a blue grass band known as the Coffee Drinkers. They were fortunate to be able to play at County Fairs, VFW Halls, Retirement Homes, local celebrations and A"just becauseA". All the members of the band preceded him in death, and he missed them terribly. With a little encouragement, David would still break into song or play his mandolin for the residents of Edgewood Manor. He would grin and greet you with such a sweet smile that you couldnA't help but smile back. His interests and hobbies varied from his singing and playing, to restoring those beloved musical instruments, collecting old historical books, and family genealogical information dating back to 1780A's in the U.S. and further yet in Scotland. He loved attending the annual family and school reunions whenever he could. And it was widely known that no cat would starve on Cliff Run Road.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Ed and Jeanie Reeves and EdA's mother of Bainbridge, Ohio for their many years of friendship and love for David and his brother Dean.

They have been so very supportive of David for so long, and provided the ultimate care, in every possible way. There are just no words to describe how we feel about them and no amount of Thanks to repay them for their kindness and love over the years.

We would also like to thank the staff of Edgewood Manor, Greenfield, Ohio for the attention given to David while in their care.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers John Franklin, Charles Theodore, Paul Howard and Ralph Dean Gray, and sister Beatrice Maxine Gray Crawford.

He is survived by six loving nieces and nephews who will keep him dear to their hearts.

A graveside service will be held 11 am Friday, May 20, 2011 in the Bainbridge Cemetery.
