William A. "Dusty" Rhoads, age 81 of Chillicothe, passed away Saturday September 1, 2012 at Heartland of Chillicothe, surrounded by his family. Bill was born January 11, 1931 in Pike County the son of the late Raymond and Carol Knisley Rhoads.
Bill was a graduate of Western High School, Class of 1949; Veteran of the US Marines and retiree of Mead Corporation after 38 years of service. He was an avid sports fan; he loved the Reds, Buckeyes, Bengals and the Browns. He loved spending time with his family, and supporting their activities; camping, cooking, gardening and spending time on the farm. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Loretta Mutter.
Bill is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 54 years, Margaret Landrum Rhoads; daughters, Elizabeth (Bob) Crowe of Chillicothe and Marie (Don) Whitley of South Salem; 4 special grandchildren, Donald William and Christina Whitley both of South Salem and Ryan and Rachel Crowe both of Chillicothe; brother, Wayne (Jean) Rhoads of Washington CH; brother-in-laws, William E. (Betty) Landrum of Chillicothe, Elton T. Mutter of Florida; sister-in-law, Bertha (Steven) Lytle of South Salem; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT Funeral Home, Bainbridge with Reverends Tom Rhoads and Randall Rinehart officiating. Interment will follow in the Twin Township Cemetery with a military service accorded by the Ross County Honor Guard. Friends may call from 4-8 pm Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
