Zona Mae Shumaker

Zona Mae (Woods) Shumaker 78, of South Salem passed from this life, Friday, September 30, 2022 at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe. She was born Saturday, March 18, 1944 in Ross County, the daughter of the late John and Alma Jane (Skaggs) Woods. On November 21, 1964, she married Norman Eugene “Buzz” Shumaker, Sr. who passed away February 17, 2022.

Zona is survived by her children Karen (Patrick) Ellingsworth of FL, Loretta Raisanen of Chillicothe, Wendy Shumaker and Norman (Marie) Shumaker, Jr both of South Salem, Roxana Shumaker of Chillicothe and Mark Shumaker of South Salem; 16 grand and 16 great grandchildren; brother Charles Woods of Chillicothe and several nieces and nephews including niece Jeanie Curloins.

In addition to her parents Zona was preceded in death by eight siblings Edward, Edith, Alice, Bertie, Mabel, Rozette, Norman and Dale.

Zona loved her family dearly. She was a member of Red Bud Chapel and she enjoyed her flowers and sewing.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the Smith-Moore-Ebright Funeral Home of Bainbridge, following the service Zona will be laid to rest beside Buzz in the Bainbridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 12 pm until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
